Roofing in Leander, from the 1882 rail town to Crystal Falls

Leander began in 1882 on land sold by the Austin and Northwestern Railroad, and its population grew from 26,521 in 2010 to 59,202 in 2020. In Crystal Falls, most homes date from the mid-2000s to mid-2010s. Premier serves Leander from our San Antonio office.

Neighborhoods we serve

Crystal Falls in northwest Leander, with four sections (the original neighborhood, The Fairways, The Highlands and Crystal Falls Mesa) around an 18-hole golf course, plus newer communities such as Travisso and Bryson. Original-section lots have mature trees.

Local weather and roof issues

Hail is the main storm risk. On April 15, 2021, KXAN reported golf ball-sized hail in Leander and Pflugerville, and up to tennis ball-sized hail in parts of Williamson County, with residents expecting roof damage assessments. Mature trees on the larger lots in older sections can also drop limbs and debris into valleys and gutters.

Permits and HOA notes

The City of Leander's permit page lists re-roofing among exterior work that does not require a permit, and says its list is not comprehensive. Confirm with Development Services at 512-528-2733 before work starts. HOA sections such as those in Crystal Falls may have their own shingle style and color rules.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The free inspection includes a 37-point check and photo and video findings.

A repair and a full replacement are priced very differently, and roof size, pitch, materials and any damaged decking all change the number. After your free 37-point inspection you get a written price for your actual roof, not a ballpark. Ask for the photo and video findings so you can compare bids on equal terms.

Photograph any visible damage from the ground, keep any debris, and stay off the roof. Book a free inspection so a HAAG-certified inspector can document hail and wind damage with photos and video, then contact your insurer. Make temporary repairs to prevent more water damage and keep the receipts.

Every one to two years, and after any major hail or wind storm. Small problems like lifted flashing or exposed nails are cheap to fix early and expensive to ignore. Our free 37-point inspection checks the roof, flashing and ventilation and sends you photo and video findings.

In Texas, an insurer can't raise your premium or refuse to renew your policy solely because of a claim for damage from natural causes like hail or wind. Other kinds of claims, or a pattern of several claims, can affect your costs, and your policy terms matter. For your specific situation, check your policy and the Texas Department of Insurance at tdi.texas.gov.

Most Crystal Falls homes date from the mid-2000s to mid-2010s, so many original roofs are well past their first decade. Book a documented inspection, especially after hail like the April 2021 storm in Leander, and check your HOA's shingle rules before ordering. The city lists re-roofing as work that needs no permit.
